Portsmouth born and raised Liam has donated his advertising space from match sponsorship to Solent Mind.
Refined Search have donated advertising space at Fratton Park to Solent Mind for Portsmouth FC’s crucial game against Barnsley on Tuesday April 16.
Liam Hunter-Felton, Owner of Refined Search Ltd, is a lifelong Pompey fan after going to games with his father all his life. Andy, Liam’s dad, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2021.
Portsmouth born and raised, Liam decided to use his sponsorship of the clubs match to shine a light on mental health services in the city: “As a Pompey lad it’s humbling to create the opportunity to partner with Solent Mind today. My dad Andy has Alzheimers, he is 70 years old and was diagnosed in 2021.
“Due to this awful disease, his independence has reduced quickly and he is unable to do many things he once enjoyed. Portsmouth Football Club has been a constant fixture in his life and mine, and I am happy to report he still attends matches and loves it.”
Solent Mind service Remind helps support the wellbeing of people living with dementia, their carers, and families in Portsmouth. While Gardening with Dementia at Mayfield Garden Centre offers horticultural therapy and support to those in Southampton.
Liam and Andy’s story, as well as information about Solent Mind, will appear in the programmes and on the big screen at Fratton Park for Tuesday's game.
Liam said: “I want to shine a light and raise awareness of the great work Solent Mind does for individuals and families needing mental health services and support and to be able to do this through my favourite football club is a great goal to achieve.”
