Bluestar have announced that Solent Mind were voted by staff as their charity of the year, and with that a bus decked out in mental health awareness and support materials.
Yesterday, Bluestar unveiled their bus with all the advertising dedicated to Solent Mind.
After naming Solent Mind as their official good cause for 2022, one of their single decker buses was decorated with information about the charity and the support it offers, including ways to donate or contact our support line.
Kevin Gardner, Solent Mind CEO, said: “I’m so grateful to Bluestar for recognising that there has never been a more important time to be supporting people with their mental health. While on your journeys, you will be able read messages of the support and advice available in the area.”
The information can be found on the back of the bus, as well as the interior on the back of the seats and running down all along the bus above the windows.
Clair Walker of Bluestar said: “We have a charity of the year, which is nominated by employees of who they would like us to support and then everyone votes, and Solent Mind is obviously a really important cause that really spoke to everyone. We are pleased to support it.”
The bus will be doing a variety of Bluestars regular routes raising awareness for the mental health support Solent Mind offers for local people in Hampshire.
Kevin added: “One of the things I really like about this idea is that it is normalising discussion about mental health, so to pick up these messages and to be made aware, you don’t necessarily have to go to a designated place for mental health.
“It is something you can to when you’re doing A to B, going from home to your work-place, when you’re going from school back home, when students are travelling from their flats to lectures. Those are the places that it's really helpful for us to feel comfortable talking openly with others about our mental health.”
