Fareham and Gosport Wellbeing Centre

Groups, workshops and 1:1 emotional support to help you live well in Fareham and Gosport.

Our network of recovery-focussed Wellbeing Centres offer safe spaces to be yourself and get back on track through groups, workshops, activities and 1:1 emotional support.

Through an initial telephone assessment, we'll work with you to set goals for your time with us and find the the right courses to help you work towards them. We can also help signpost you to local services for any additional support needs, like housing, benefits, counselling, crisis support or other specific mental health needs.

Our support is always specific and personalised to you, but might include a combination of creative arts, active groups, mindfulness and useful specific short courses for anxiety, anger, self-esteem or life skills. Whatever challenges you may be facing in your life, we can help you build the confidence to manage and understand your symptoms.

Who is it for?

You can self-refer yourself to the Wellbeing Centre if you are aged 18 or over, have a GP in the Fareham & Gosport area and experience mild to moderate mental health problems like anxiety, stress, low mood or self esteem or depression. 

If you are currently supported by a local Community Mental Health Team or Acute Mental Health Team, please speak to your Care Co-ordinator or other lead professional so they may refer you directly to us.

Our support is not counselling. Instead, we give you the tools to take action, learn how to manage your wellbeing and widen your network of support. 

Information for professionals

Along with the self-referral options above, we also accept:

  • Referral from Fareham or Gosport-based GP practices
  • Referral from Community Mental Health Team or Acute Mental Health Team

CMHT and AMHT referrals require a risk assessment in addition to our Agency Referral Form. Our support can be offered to patients as an element within a wider care plan, but is not appropriate as a sole-replacement for secondary care.

Example wellbeing timetable

MONDAYS

Mindfulness Group

A structured 6 week programme of mindfulness, meditation and guided imagery. Sessions include ‘mindful eating’, ‘meditating on confidence’, ‘meditations for letting things go’, ‘a meditation on thoughts’, ‘meditating on emotions’, and breathing in colour’. Short audio recordings are emailed to participants following each session to enable self-directed practice at home.

Starts: Ongoing, runs Mondays 10am – 11:30am

Confidence and Resilience Group

A structured 6 week group to building confidence and resilience. Confidence can be described as believing in your own abilities and beliefs, whilst resilience is the ability to bounce back from the challenges and adversities we can face in life.

Starts: Monday 11th September 12pm – 1:30pm. Dates are; Monday 11th, 18th, 25th September & 2nd, 9th, 16th October.

Board Games Group

Monthly social group to play board games together in a safe an informal environment. People attending are welcome to bring their own game, although we have some games available.

Runs: First Monday of every month! 2pm – 3:30pm. Next dates are; Monday 4th September, and 2nd October

TUESDAYS

HOPE Group

An all-inclusive group therapy to Help Other People Evolve.

This is a solution focused and confidence building group which intends to inspire people experiencing challenges in their life. Facilitated by Hope who will support you to understand and explore your emotional wellbeing, encouraging and developing each other’s healthier coping strategies to improve quality of life.

Runs: Every other Tuesday, 12pm – 1:30pm. Dates for the upcoming sessions are; Tuesday 5th, 19th September & 3rd, 17th October

Music Therapy Group

Opportunity for self-expression, focus your concentration while learning to play the guitar, plus percussion and singing some songs together. Meet other people and play, all levels of any musical ability welcome!

Starts: 12th September 12pm – 1:30pm, every other week. First set of dates are; 12th, 26th September and 10th, 24th October.

18-30’s Social Group

For 18-30 year olds, a chance to socialise and try new things. Activities range from having a chat to adventuring out or taking on a new hobby you have always wanted to try. Group is led by the service users.

NOTE: Accessing this group means you cannot access other groups at the same time due to differences in funding.

Starts: Ongoing every Tuesday 2pm – 3:30pm

WEDNESDAYS

Walking Group

Join us on a leisurely stroll around some of our lovely shorelines and country side. They are an easy walk designed to be accessible and tailored to the group. Weather dependant, sometimes we end with a refreshment stop if there is time (each individual pays for their own drink).

Starts: Ongoing Wednesdays 1pm – 3pm (depending on interest)

Live well with Pain

A 6 week course to learn how to control and manage chronic pain through science-based skills and techniques that put you back in control. Developed by psychologist and those with lived experience. This course aims to improve your function, increase your wellbeing and enhance quality of life.

Starts: Wednesday 6th September 2pm – 3:30pm. Dates are; 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th September & 4th, 11th October.

Carers and Parents Support Sessions

Monthly peer support sessions for carers and parents of people 18+. This session is led by our staff but gives you the chance to meet others in similar situations.

Runs: First Wednesday evening of each month 6pm – 7:30pm. Next dates are; Wednesday 6th September, and 4th October.

Anxiety Management Group

This 6 week evening course will teach you skills and techniques to improve your ability to manage your anxiety and build your confidence.

Starts: Wednesday 13th September 6pm – 7:30pm for 6 weeks, dates are; September 13th, 20th, 27th & October 11th, 18th, 25th

THURSDAYS

Yoga For Mental Health

We offer 6 weekly yoga session to people that have not done this course before. Yoga with

Gosport Wellbeing is about free taster sessions. Includes some stretching, breathing

techniques and relaxation skills, balancing of the body, mind and emotions.

Starts: When next space is available. Thursdays 10am – 11:30am.

Coffee and Chat Group

This group gives you the chance to meet others with a cuppa for an informal chat. It’s a weekly ongoing group.

Starts: Ongoing every Thursday 12pm – 1pm

Mindful Colouring

Mindful Colouring is just one way to introduce yourself to the concept of mindfulness. It can bring focus on the moment and promote relieving stress, enjoy a creative experience that promotes wellbeing concentration skills.

Starts: Thursday 14th September 2pm – 3:30pm, continuing once a month. Next three dates are; 14th September, 12th October & 9th November.

Decider Life Skills Course (and 18-30’s Decider)

This 6 week course will teach you easy skills to deal with everyday issues which can impact on our lives. This course is delivered by trained staff and is easy to understand so that the skills can be used in our day to day lives.

Starts: Thursday 5th October 2pm – 3:30pm for 6 weeks, dates are; October 5th, 26th & November 2nd, 16th, 23rd, 30th

FRIDAYS

Creative group

Running on Friday mornings now, the Creative Group provides an opportunity for self-expression, and to focus your concentration on an enjoyable task, build self-esteem, learn new skills and reduce anxiety and depression.

Starts: Friday 8th September 10am – 12pm. Dates are currently; September 8th, 15th, 22nd & October 13th, 20th, 27th
