Services Update

In the coming weeks we expect significant disruption to our services, and will be launching new measures to support our service users and the public at large in this difficult time. For resources and advice on how to keep well please click here.

Peer Support

To help keep everyone in the Solent Mind community safe, all of our face to face Peer Support groups and activities are cancelled for the time being.

We know this is a difficult time for everyone, and we still want to support you:

Online: Log on to elefriends.org.uk for our virtual peer support group, every day between 10am – 12noon.

Our peer staff will be live online to offer advice and support or just to have a chat. Use #SolentPeers to find us or just look out for our ‘SolentMind’ names. If you have trouble logging on or finding us, drop us a text or email and we will help.

Telephone and text support: – text to 07451 276010 and we will call or text you back. Our Lighthouse peers are available until midnight.

We are still providing Advocacy services at the current time. Due to most establishments closing to non-urgent visitors, and to keep our service users and staff safe, we are currently offering a telephone support service.

If your issue is urgent, Safeguarding or Serious Medical Treatment, please phone the office number and this can be discussed with a Manager. We can also arrange Skype/Facetime/Teams communications if needed. You can email us at advocacysouth@solentmind.org.uk or telephone us on 02380 208955.

Portsmouth Support and Recovery

Our PSR services, including the Community Peer Recovery Team and Employment team, are still working hard to support people in the city of Portsmouth. However in order to keep our staff and service users safe we are changing some of the ways we work during this period:

Community Peer Recovery Team – we have cancelled all face-to-face appointments, and will instead be offering weekly and triage support over the phone.

Employment – Our Employment teams will continue to offer support via phone or email.

Solent Recovery College

Solent Recovery College operates out of the University of Portsmouth. At present the University has suspended all face-to-face teaching on their premises. To help keep all of our students and staff safe SRC is suspending all of our face-to-face teaching until further notice. 

We will now be running our classes online using Zoom. Please click here to see our new timetable.

In order to help everyone stay safe we have suspended all home visits and groups. However we will be in contact with our Remind clients and carers via telephone twice a week to ensure that we are still able to offer support.

To ensure the safety of our service users and staff team, PositiveMinds will be closing its building and operating a remote service. We will still be offering support through phone conversations with our trained Wellbeing Advisors.

To access this support please call 023 9282 4795. Our phone line will be open during the following hours:

Monday to Thursday: 9.30am-4.30pm
Friday: 9.30am -4pm

Positive Minds will be offering support over the bank holidays Friday 10th April and Monday 13th April from 9:30am -4:30pm.
Please note that our staff will be remotely working from home and the PositiveMinds building will remain closed.

Wellbeing Services

Our Wellbeing Services are unfortunately currently unable to offer any courses or face-to face meetings with service users. However, staff are still available to support you over the phone or by email, so please do contact using the details below if you would like our support or help during this time.

Mayfield Nurseries

Thank you for your loyalty during these unprecedented times. We have kept Mayfield Nurseries open for as long as possible, as we know the important role it plays within the community, however we are committed to the safety of our employees and customers and their families and we feel that with the unfolding situation, this is no longer an option.

We are therefore announcing that we have taken the decision to temporarily close Mayfield Nurseries in response to official guidance set out by the government regarding COVID-19. 
We continue to offer support by phone and email for the programmes which we run and are keeping in touch with our service users regularly.

We are looking at alternative ways to be there for our customers, you can find us on our social channels (Twitter @MayfieldNurseries, Facebook @MayfieldNurseries) where we will be sharing our latest news.

We are thinking of you and your families during these uncertain times and we all look forward to welcoming you back to the nursery once the situation improves. Thank you as ever for your continued support.


Changes to The Lighthouse service

In light of the current self-isolation measures and the ask for people to stay at home, we at the Lighthouse are thinking differently about how we can provide support in these uncertain times.

We are seeing increased levels of anxiety and mental health difficulties, a lot of which is due to nation-wide uncertainty, reduced social interactions and lack of opportunities for community involvement.

Our staff are keen to provide support to all of those in the Southampton city area, who are in mental health crisis or emotional distress but are also committed to supporting people to stay at home and reduce the spread of COVID-19.

For this reason, we have set up a temporary virtual service within Solent Mind’s existing text/skype/telephone service. This will be for Southampton city residents (postcodes SO14-SO19) during our usual opening hours of 4.30pm-12am.

How it works

The Lighthouse hub in Shirley is now temporarily closed. Those in mental health crisis or emotional distress can text ‘lighthouse’ and their postcode (for example LIGHTHOUSE SO14 0YG) to the Solent Mind text line number (07451276010) between 4.30pm and 12am. Our staff will then contact them via telephone, email, webchat or text.

Head Office

Please note that while our Head Office is currently closed to the public, we are still contactable via email and phone on our main information line for general enquiries. Staff will also be responding to their usual contact information.
