Employment Support Blog - March 7th 2022

The latest news and updates that our employment support team think you need to know about:

  1. The National Living Wage will be increasing from April 2022 – the increase is different depending on which age group you are in, and you can check this on the Government website Minimum wage rates for 2022 - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
  2. Over a million UK workers are now on zero-hour contracts. This type of contract was introduced to provide flexibility for employees and employers, but since then, these contracts have been viewed as limiting workers’ rights and providing unstable and unsecure employment, with some groups calling for them to be banned. Read more here The Zero-Hour Scam
  3. Over 40,000 social care staff have left the sector in the last year, amid a challenging year for all, resulting in staff feeling exhausted and undervalued. There are calls for action to be taken to address low pay and working conditions as the requirement for care staff is higher than ever. At least 42,000 social care staff have left sector since April 2021

Remember, if you've not been working because of your illness, or you're employed but feel like you are struggling at work, our Employment Support Service can help.
