Each Christmas at Solent Mind we aim to find out what’s happening locally so that nobody spends Christmas alone. Below is a list of support that is available over the Christmas period, and list of helplines.

Abbeyfield runs a coping at Christmas initiative which sees houses and homes opening their doors to those who would otherwise be spending the day alone. A range of activities are on offer and there are participating Abbeyfields in Southampton and Winchester

italk provides free treatment to people suffering from common mental health problems including depression, anxiety and stress. italk is for people aged 16 and over who are registered with a GP in the following areas of Hampshire: Basingstoke, Bordon, Eastleigh, Fareham, Gosport, Havant, the New Forest, Petersfield, the Test Valley and Winchester.

Sane helpline – 0300 304 7000 (Out-of-hours mental health helpline)
SANE runs a national, out-of-hours mental health helpline offering specialist emotional support and information to anyone affected by mental illness, including family, friends and carers. They are open every day of the year from 6pm to 11pm.
