“I was in a job that was causing me significant stress, and with the support I received from Caroline in the employment service, I found the confidence to not only leave that role, but to pursue something new. I’m now in a job that I love! I also believe in myself and know that I have many valuable skills to give to my employer.”

Struggling with burnout

Tina was working as a Business Manager in a school. The long hours and increasing workload left her feeling overwhelmed and exhausted.

“My workload was horrendous, and the more I did, the more I was given. I didn’t feel valued by my manager, and it was impacting my mood. I felt worn-out and worthless.

After speaking to her GP, she was signed off work for 5 months, and was referred to NHS Talking Therapies.

Finding support and hope

Tina joined a 6-week 'Managing Moods' course and began weekly 1:1 phone sessions with Caroline. She says the impact was immediate.

“As soon as I started talking to Caroline, things felt better. She was kind and empathetic, and I no longer felt alone with my struggles.

“By the end of our second call, Caroline helped me realise I couldn’t go back to the school where I worked. She also explained how many transferable skills I had, and how she could help me find a role I’d be happy in. I couldn’t believe it. Starting something new felt very scary, but Caroline reassured me that she’d be there to support me all the way. She gave me real hope!”

Building confidence and finding a new direction

With Caroline’s help, Tina updated her CV, applied for new roles and learnt how to market herself on LinkedIn. It wasn’t long before she was invited to 2 interviews – and 1 of them would lead to her new job.

“I wasn’t offered the first job I was interviewed for, but I felt so much more confident applying for other roles. I was offered the job after my second interview however, and I’ve now been in role for 7 months. It’s amazing!

“I’m working as an accounts manager for a TV production company, and I’m really enjoying it. It’s great to be part of the incredible work happening there. The company is also very focussed on staff wellbeing, and I was able to negotiate working 4 days a week so I can spend more time with my family. It’s been incredible.”

A renewed sense of value

Tina says she now feels trusted, valued, and supported in her new role – and incredibly grateful for the help she received from Solent Mind.

“I wouldn’t have been able to find this job without Caroline’s support and I’m forever grateful. It really has been ‘life-changing’!
