Mayfield Garden Centre, part of Solent Mind, has received a donation of £3,000 from John Lewis.
The well-known brand of department stores handed over the funds as part of its Grant Giving programme, which donates to worthwhile charities in the region.
A cheque presentation was held at Mayfield, and Jude Gardner, Acting Operations Manager for Southampton Services, said: “As a non-profit project we rely on the support of our local community to help us make improvements. This grant from John Lewis has meant we’ve been able to replace some of our old cafe furniture and improve the access ramp to our shop.
“We’ve also installed a water supply to our group room, which means we can provide hot drinks to our service users. A huge thank from everyone here. This will make a big difference to everyone visiting Mayfield.”
Tracey Taylor, Partner and Community Liaison Coordinator at John Lewis, said: “We were delighted to donate these funds to Mayfield Garden Centre to help improve its facilities, enhance accessibility for visitors, and to support its vital services like the dementia group and horticultural therapies.”
Mayfield provides horticultural therapies to help people with mental health issues or dementia bloom in Southampton. The centre is also a working plant nursery, selling a range of award-winning plants at affordable prices. Every penny made is ploughed back into the charity to support people experiencing mental health issues.
