During Local Mind Week (4 - 10 August), we’re taking the opportunity to showcase how our services are supporting people’s mental health and wellbeing in the local area.
Being part of the Mind family, which includes over 100 local Minds across England, Wales and the Channel Islands, means we benefit from the resources, research, and advocacy efforts of the national Mind Federation. But we are also an independent charity working to support local people.
As part of a social media takeover, throughout the week, we will be highlighting the variety of services and support we have on offer for people in the region as well as the impact this is having on the areas we serve.
“Our goal is to deliver tailored, high-quality support that genuinely improves the wellbeing of individuals in the Solent region,” said our CEO, Sally Arscott.
“While we’re proud to be part of the wider Mind Federation, we operate independently so we can respond directly to the unique challenges faced by people living in our local area.
“Hampshire is home to a diverse range of communities, and we want to ensure everyone can access the support they need and deserve.”
Solent Mind offers a variety of mental health services in the region, including peer support, talking therapies, crisis support, employment support, and support for Navy and Royal Marines personnel and their families. We also have several wellbeing centres across the region (in Portsmouth, Fareham and Gosport, Eastleigh, Winchester, and the New Forest), which provide a safe space for people to be themselves and to get back on track through a range of activities including short courses, support groups, creative workshops, and 1:1 emotional support.
Local Mind Week aims to highlight the crucial role local Minds play within the broader national Mind family.
