Bridge2Work Project

Solent Mind are pleased to be working in partnership with Wheatsheaf Trust  by providing Mental Health Awareness training and support to managers involved in the Bridge2Work Project.

The project supports people across the Solent area affected by complex and multiple barriers towards and into work. The project is supported through the Building Better Opportunities programme, which is funded by the Big Lottery Fund and European Social Fund (ESF) and delivered by Wheatsheaf Trust in partnership with Portsmouth City Council and Solent Mind.

The goal is to help at least 226 unemployed or economically inactive individuals to progress towards employment. We aim for 37% progressing into jobs, 14% progressing into job search activity and 17% progressing into education or learning to perform in the job market whilst building their confidence and resilience. We also aim to hold 22 Mental Health Awareness group sessions for employers.

Bridge2Work focuses on offering paid work placements (ILMs) which are designed to meet a person’s needs and allow them to test their ability.

We help people with:

  • Personalised 1-1 support from a dedicated Personal Advisor to put together and work through a tailored Progression Plan with specific actions to overcome barriers to work.
  • Informal group training sessions to help develop coping strategies, develop skills and build confidence and motivation at a manageable pace.
  • Paid work placements tailored to the individual for up to 6 months (16 to 25 hours per week) with understanding employers providing an opportunity to prove to the employer and to the individual themselves what they are capable of.
