Resource centres

What are resource centres?

Resource centres are community bases from which we, and other agencies, operate a range of services for people with a range of mental health problems.  We run two resource centres, which offer the following activities:

Marcella House

A social resource centre for people with mental health problems, offering a variety of activities and drop - ins.  The building is modern and purpose built and the atmosphere is relaxed, informal and friendly. Two staff support each session and members are encouraged to help with the day to day running of the centre.

Types of groups include photography, drop-ins with games and chat, art, poetry, sewing, Young Peoples Group, lunch clubs, etc.  Through a local college, funding is found for taster sessions with recent examples including aromatherapy, gardening and Thai Chi.

Priory Gardens

The centre seeks to promote social inclusion, physical and mental wellbeing and personalised care in a welcoming and supportive environment.

We offer a wide and varied range of groups and activities at our centre in Parchment Street as well as in the local community. These groups are the mainstay of the work at the resource centre and are available during the following times:

We currently have approximately 30 groups running ranging from Pottery to Life Skills and Learning. From WRAP (Wellbeing Action Recovery Plan) to Cooking 4 One. A full list is available on request. These groups continually change and evolve according to individual need, but typically in planning groups we seek to establish a balance between the following areas of personal development:

Social Inclusion
Mental wellbeing
Physical wellbeing
Leisure and relaxation
Skills building

Some groups we make a small charge for. Where groups are oversubscribed we operate a waiting list system.
