Quality

What Quality means to us

For us, quality is a factor in everything we do.  We want to provide the best service to people who need them, as well as being an excellent employer to our staff team.  As such, we want to always challenge ourselves and undergo external quality assessment across all areas of our work and the following shows how we well we are doing – but also how we are always looking to do better:

Quality Management in Mind (QMiM)

QMiM is the quality management assessment carried out by Mind on Local Mind Associations across England and Wales.  In 2009, Solent Mind was one of the first LMAs to undergo assessment under Mind’s new, more rigorous programme and was awarded a level 3, the highest level of attainment.

There are many reasons why holding QMiM is important to us.  Participation provides a clear benchmark for us to demonstrate to external agencies such as commissioners that we are operating well, in line with our policies and with the needs of the communities being served.  Quality also means that Mind can guarantee a level of service across its network of local Mind associations to all users irrespective of where they access them.
Quality Management in Mind is also endorsed by the Charity Commission, further helping us to demonstrate the quality of the services on offer.

Investors in People

We hold an IiP qualification, demonstrating our commitment to continuously improving our business performance.  We have held IiP for x years now, and our most recent assessment was in 2009.  The result of this was a Level ? attainment.

Mindful Employer

Mindful Employer is a multi-agency initiative to raise awareness of mental health issues in the workplace, and to provide information, advice and support to organisations around recruitment and retention of staff.  Part of being a Mindful Employer is for organisations to sign up to a Charter for Employers to evidence their commitment to supporting its employees in a positive way.

Solent Mind is proud to be a Mindful Employer and has led the initiative in Hampshire, encouraging a range of employers to sign up.

Care Quality Commission (CQC)

The CQC The Care Quality Commission is the independent regulator of health and social care in England.  It regulates care provided by the NHS, local authorities, private companies and voluntary organisations. It aims to make sure better care is provided for everyone - in hospitals, care homes and people's own homes. It also seeks to protect the interests of people whose rights are restricted under the Mental Health Act.

Our Community Support Service provides home based support to older people, and is assessed annually by the CQC to ensure that we are providing quality services to our clients.

We currently hold a Level 2 – Good rating.  We are working towards achieving Level 3 – Excellent by 2011.
