Chief Executive's November Blog

It’s wonderful to see what people are prepared to do to raise money for Solent Mind. Michael Richards, one of our Admin Assistants from italk, cycled from Southampton to Brighton for Solent Mind last weekend – mainly in the dark. It took 9 hour, though this did include an hour and a half in the pub. Michael is still sitting rather uncomfortably at his desk, but heroically planning his next challenge (and looking for others to join him; please don’t hold back!). Meanwhile Debbie King (Floating Support), Mairead Manton (Finance) and Mairead’s sister Bernadette raised more than £700 between them on last month’s Great South Run.
And many thanks to the Charity Symphony Orchestra for their brilliant CD featuring Schumann and Mahler, now on sale for Solent Mind in time for Christmas. This follows their concert for us in Southampton earlier in the year. Supporting Solent Mind was the Orchestra’s choice, a very personal cause for some of its members. The Orchestra gathers together 3 or 4 Saturdays a year for a day’s rehearsal, with the concert following in the evening, a really creative way to keep up with old friends, pursue a passion, entertain their supporters and, of course, make money for their chosen causes.
Thank you everyone who has supported us during 2011.
