Mission, Vision & Values

Our Mission

Underpinning all we do at Solent Mind is our mission statement, which is "to offer a range of high quality services to improve people’s mental wellbeing and to promote choice and rights to diverse communities who need our support."

Our mission is reviewed regularly as part of our overall business planning process, which involves trustees, staff and service users in making sure our direction is the right one.

Our Values

Supporting our mission are our values, the ethical framework around which we operate our organisation:

Leadership - We can learn from and be led by people who have experienced mental ill health.

Recovery - We believe in the importance of people managing their mental health problems and improving their quality of life.

Positive - We believe that mental health can be affected by social, political, environmental, physical and personal factors, and the services we offer actively address all of these.

Challenging - We believe that people with mental ill health face discrimination and stigma. We will always challenge any prejudice and positively support all our service users in fighting discrimination and inequality.

Valuing people - We believe that valued services are created and delivered by valued staff and volunteers.

Growth - We believe in the importance of sustainable growth and will ensure all our future development is planned and carried out responsibly.

Our Vision

With our clear statement of who we are, what we do and the value base on how we do it, we are able to be clear about where we want to be in the future, as our Vision Statement sets out:

We want to be the most trusted and respected mental health agency in the communities we serve and to be the partner of choice for service users, funders and other stakeholders.
