Our Campaigns
We are a campaigning organistaion and promoting good mental health is integral to all we do. We participate in national and local campaigns and below sets out the ones we are cirrently involved with:
Time To Change
Did you know:-
- One in four of us will have a mental health problem in our lifetimes.
- People with mental health problems are amongst the least likely of any group with a long term condition to find work, be in a steady relationship or live in decent housing.
- Research shows that prejudice against people with mental health problems is actual increasing.

The Time to Change campaign is happening all over the country, led by national mental health charities Mind and Rethink. Funded by the Big Lottery Fund and Comic Relief, the campaign started in 2008 and will run until 2012. Its aim is simple – to end discrimination against people with mental health issues.
To achieve this, a great many projects and activities are being run to raise awareness and bring an end to the stigma and discrimination faced by so many.
Solent Mind ran its own Time to Change funded project called Community Wellbeing, which achieved many successes during its 2 year delivery over 2008 to 2010. We are continuing its legacy through our New Forest Healthy Living Walks and the continued championing of this important campaign through all our other services.

10:10 Campaign
What is this campaign?
10:10 is a national drive to cut the UK’s carbon emissions by 10% during 2010.
Anyone can sign up to 10:10, from ordinary people, schools and hospitals to councils
and government departments, from corner shops to high street banks and from scout
troops to premiere league football clubs. By joining 10:10, you’re making a commitment to try your best to cut your own emissions by 10%, as part of a wider national effort to significantly reduce our output of greenhouse gasses in line with what the scientists say is needed. Nobody is going to complain if you find you can’t cut the whole 10%. Every percent counts and 10:10 will celebrate any cuts you manage to make in your emissions.
The major energy suppliers have agreed to help everyone to meet their 10:10
commitment by working out the difference between this year’s energy use and last
year’s. They’ll display this information on customers’ bills in way that’s simple and
easy to understand. The Energy Saving Trust and the Carbon Trust have both agreed to help people reach their 10:10 goals by providing advice about energy saving measures through their free helpline and website. The Guardian and the Sun will also be providing plenty of expert advice over the next year on their pages and websites.
The Carbon Trust have agreed to help businesses and organisations to meet their
10:10 commitment by providing advice about energy saving measures through
their free helpline and website.
Solent Mind has signed up and is working to make sure we can cut our carbon emissions by 10%. We will do this through the launch of our Environmental Policy this summer, as well as introducing new green inititaives such as recycling facilities and bicycle racks at all of our Southampton sites. We will be making regular announcements about how we're doing so look out for news!
