italk is the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) service provided in partnership between Solent Mind and Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust

To further develop our italk service we are now recruiting for Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP) -ref:  TPWPmay18 - 37 hours per week – full time.

We are looking for highly motivated and resilient individuals with a relevant qualification or mental health experience and a desire to work in one of the largest Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services in the country. You will work with patients with mild to moderate depression and anxiety.  We need people with energy and enthusiasm, who are flexible in their approach and can work well as part of a large, busy team in a high-volume service and demanding environment, whilst studying for their PWP qualifications.

We are offering one-year traineeships to Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners, starting in September 2018.  PWP Trainees will work within the italk service for Solent Mind providing Step 2 interventions in the form of 1 – 1 telephone, face to face, group and on-line support for people with mild to moderate anxiety and depression. You will receive employment and a full salary, as well as one year of high quality evidence-based training at the University of Southampton.

  • You will need recent experience of working with people with mental health problems.

  • You may be a graduate (or equivalent) level in a relevant profession, or have acquired good practical experience of mental health work with evidence of recent relevant study.

In addition to the requirements in the Person Specification, candidates will have to satisfy the University that they are capable of completing the academic component of the training, alongside working within the service.

Initially, during your induction period, you will be based at Eastleigh after which you will be based in one of 3 hubs across Hampshire:  West (Eastleigh); East (Gosport); North (Basingstoke).
