For us, quality is a factor in everything we do. We want to provide the best service to people who need them, as well as being an excellent employer to our staff team. As such, we want to always challenge ourselves and undergo external quality assessment across all areas of our work and the following shows how we well we are doing – but also how we are always looking to do better.
Mind Quality Mark (MQM)
MQM is the quality management assessment carried out by Mind on Local Minds across England and Wales. There are many reasons why holding MQM is important to us. Participation provides a clear benchmark for us to demonstrate to external agencies such as commissioners that we are operating in line with our policies and with the needs of the communities being served. Quality also means that Mind can guarantee a level of service across its network of local Minds to all users irrespective of where they access them.
MQM is also endorsed by the Charity Commission, further helping us to demonstrate the quality of the services on offer.
Investors in People
Solent Mind achieved Investors in People Gold standard in November 2014. It is in the top 7% of accredited organisations across the UK.
Mindful Employer is a multi-agency initiative to raise awareness of mental health issues in the workplace, and to provide information, advice and support to organisations around recruitment and retention of staff. Part of being a Mindful Employer is for organisations to sign up to a Charter for Employers to evidence their commitment to supporting its employees in a positive way.
Solent Mind is proud to be a Mindful Employer and has led the initiative in Hampshire, encouraging a range of employers to sign up.

Solent Mind is governed by our Trustee Board Committee. They are responsible for overseeing all of the work we do as a charity. The Board is made up of individual Trustees, all of whom bring their particular skills, knowledge and expertise to ensuring that our organisation is running efficiently, effectively and to the high standards expected as a registered charity and company. This includes operating within our constitution, financial regulations and always in the spirit of our mission. It is responsible for ensuring our business plan is delivered, and for making key strategic decisions to take Solent Mind forward. The Trustee Board meets 6 times a year with Sub Committee meetings in between. Trustees apply when we have vacancies, and are voted onto the Board accordingly.
Our Trustees - who are they?
Trustee Board Sub-Committees
Our core areas of work are directed and influenced by our sub-committees which are led by the trustees according to their area of expertise, closely supported by key members of the Senior Management Team.
Each sub-committee is responsible for ensuring that the relevant strategy is being delivered, and the organisational goals are on the way to being met through the achievement of the specified organisational objectives in each area of work. The sub-committees meet 4 times a year, and feed back to the Trustee Board Meetings.
The organisation is managed operationally by our paid staff, which is led by our Senior Management Team (SMT).
Solent Mind is led by our Chief Executive, Richard Barritt, who has been instrumental in making Solent Mind the organisation it is today, offering over 15 years of leadership, vision and direction for our service users and staff.
Our Senior Management Team is formed of the business leads for each area of specialism, both for our infrastructure and operational services. Finance, Human Resources, Business Development and Operational Services make up the core infrastructure of our organisation which in turn supports the delivery of services which you can read more about throughout our website.
