PMDD is sometimes known as ‘severe PMS’. While many experience mild symptoms of PMS, if you have PMDD these symptoms are much worse and can have a serious impact on your life.

Not many people have heard about this condition and it can even be sometimes misdiagnosed as bipolar or depression. PMDD affects a small number of people and symptoms can be really serious, with some experiencing suicidal thoughts every few weeks in line with their menstruation cycle.

"Deep down I knew it was my period causing the depression, but I felt silly for admitting it. I felt like I was pathetic for being unable to deal with something that most other women have no issue with, and I didn’t want to talk about it with my female friends as they just didn’t get it."

We hope that those experiencing PMDD get the treatment and support they need by feeling prepared to talk to a GP.

Our new information explains what PMDD is, how PMDD is diagnosed, treatments, advice for friends and family, and where to turn for further information. It also contains a new vlog: http://bit.ly/2zzDgxO
