Solent Mind is the largest voluntary and community sector provider of mental health services in the Hampshire region.
We are currently have two exciting opportunities for the role of part -time Peer Support Project Worker. One position will be based in the New Forest, 9 hours per week, fixed term until 31 March 2018 and one position will be covering Hampshire (location to be confirmed), 22.5 hours per week, fixed term for one year from start date.
As a Peer Support Project Worker you will develop and facilitate peer support groups and activities, to improve the mental health and wellbeing of local people. You will recruit and support volunteers with their own lived experience to co-facilitate the activities, and you may assist in delivering peer support training to local groups and organisations.
You will be working closely with our Peer Support Development Officer and our Wellbeing teams, to continue existing peer support activities and develop new ones in various locations in local communities, according to the needs and wishes of local people who experience mental health issues. Your hours will be worked flexibly according to project needs, and regular travel will be entailed.
It is essential for these roles that you have experienced mental health issues and have used mental health services yourself. You will need paid or volunteer experience of supporting people with mental health problems, and a clear understanding of the power of peer support for mental health.
