One in four of us will suffer from a mental health problem at some time in our lives. Do you want to use your skills and experience to play a leading role in a social enterprise which provides real, practical help?

Mayfield Nurseries is a working nursery and a horticultural social enterprise for people with lived experience of mental health issues. Every year we support 40-50 people in gaining skills, experience and qualifications in horticulture.  A subsidiary of Solent Mind, we are also a campaigning charity and focus attention on the stigma that people with mental health problems still face.

We have a strong and committed group of Trustees / Directors, who include people with lived experience of mental health issues, and others with substantial professional expertise. They share overall responsibility for the mission, values, activities, resources, and future plans of Mayfield, and work closely with the Mayfield team and Solent Mind’s senior managers in carrying out their role.

If you feel you have a contribution to make as a Trustee / Director, particularly if you have expertise in horticulture, income generation, finance or community engagement we would be delighted to hear from you.

The Mayfield Board  meets about 4 times a year, and contributes to Solent Mind’s sub committees for Finance, Strategy and Quality. Being a Trustee is a voluntary position, but legitimate expenses including travel to meetings can be paid.
