Community Connectors is a new approach to improving communities and the lives of the people that live in them. By looking at the different networks and connections that people have in their lives, the project aims to help local people identify strengths and gaps in their own communities, and come up with ideas to make them even better places to live. Solent Mind has joined forces with the Centre for Citizenship and Hampshire County Council to trial this new approach in Hythe, Fareham and Gosport.
Clare Grant, is coordinating the project and says, “You don’t need any previous experience or qualifications to be a Community Connector, you just need to be interested in making local communities more supportive places to live, and enjoy talking to people.”
As a Community Connector, you will:
- Get to play a role in an exciting opportunity to improve your community.
- Get free training.
- Be able to get a reference and add your involvement to your CV.
- Meet other like-minded people.
Community Connectors need to be available one day a week (school hours) from the end of February to June.
