Could you volunteer to make people’s voices heard in times of need?

Thursday, 11 August 2016

Our advocacy team gives independent representation for people who have been deprived of their liberty, and volunteers play an important role in visiting people in care homes to ensure their rights are being upheld and they are being treated fairly.

We are currently recruiting for Relevant Persons’ Representative volunteers. You’ll receive full training, lots of ongoing support and supervision as well as the opportunity to make people’s voices heard in times of need.

“I started to volunteer for Solent Mind advocacy 18 months ago after many years of not working due to my own mental health issues.  The training, support and supervision has been excellent.  Volunteering gave me the confidence to apply for posts and I have been successful.  I love my work with Solent Mind and volunteering has opened doors for me and has given me the confidence to return to work. I would recommend volunteering with Solent Mind to anyone who want to work in the mental health or a similar sector.”

Training takes placeover 6 sessions from 12th September to 17th October, 6 to 8pm, at 15-16 The Avenue, Southampton, SO17 1XF.
